Dream with me...

There was one beautiful moment during the All Star game last night that I wanted to make sure my wife shared with me.

Pudge Rodriguez was catching.

Kenny Rogers was pitching.

Albert Pujols was batting.

I said to my wife, 'Just pretend with me for a moment. Just pretend that it's late October.'

And we sat in silence. Pujols flied out and just like that the moment passed.

It could happen, friends. This year it could happen.

Huh? Tigers? Cardinals? You're living in a 1968 time warp. Isringhausen ain't no Bob Gibson, although Pudge may have a little on Bill Freehan. But who is your Kaline???

Peace -- and keep dreamin', just like I keep dreamin' for the boys up north.

Oh, I dream for them too, but Tigers-Cards is much more plausible right now. I'd be just as excited by Indians-Cards...I actually was a few weeks ago during interleague.

I trained as a classical vocalist in college but stopped because of family and career. When I heard Jackie's voice, for the first time in my life I heard perfection. Let's be clear, my voice will never reach the natural perfection she possesses, but listening to her helps me understand the direction I need to be going. Her tones are crystal clear, yet she has vibrato. Her pitch is exact. By trying to emulate her sound, I have actually improved my own voice. In fact I auditioned and was recently accepted into the most prestigious chorus in the city. I credit this achievement in a great part to Jackie because she showed me to way to excellence.
