I love October. It's my favorite month of the year. It's when the leaves are at their colorful peak, we're in the heart of college football season (well, usually, anyway), and Halloween and all its related fun kicks into gear.
Among other things that contribute to the Halloween season, the Freeform channel always puts together its 31 Nights of Halloween movie schedule, which my family and I look forward to. It usually involves heavy doses of Hocus Pocus and the Addams Family movies. But we like those, so that's okay.
This year, however, I started to think about putting together my own horror movie viewing schedule, with the same idea: 31 movies in 31 days, one for each day of the month.
It was inspired by a similar thing that Austin Kleon is planning to do, although I'm not restricting my viewing only to black and white classics the way he will. There will be some of those, sure, but I want the full length of the genre from earliest times to present day.
I'll have seen a few of these selections, but I also have some gaps in my scary movie experience that I need to correct, and this will also be a chance to do that.
And hey, I'm going to blog about it! Every week I'll summarize what I've been watching and share some thoughts on each.
This could be the beginning of a new annual thing. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Tonight I begin with Nosferatu. Watch for what else I have lined up next week.
