31 Halloween Movies 2021 - Slasher Series

For October 2020, I decided to take on a fun viewing project to which I gave the incredibly creative title 31 Halloween Movies.

I wanted to do something to help get me into the spirit of the season, while also giving me a chance to watch some horror films that I've long wanted to see. The result was a wide range spanning the history of the genre. You can read a complete summary of last year's selections here.

I didn't know whether I'd do this again, but just this morning I decided to go ahead with it. And this time around, I figured I'd go with a theme.

I've never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, and I've barely seen any of the Friday the 13th or Halloween movies. (All of this to my Halloween-loving shame.) These three have come to form the foundation of a subgenre of horror known as the "slasher film," and established and inspired a new generation of movie monsters.

So this year will be relatively simple: I'll be spending the month with Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Meyers.

And once again, I'm going to blog all of it.

Freddy is up first. Here we go!
