A Prayer Between Two Kingdoms

based on John 18:33-37

Faithful God, you created this world and called it good.

But there's so much about it since that first moment that is anything but.

You know our deepest wounds--the way we cause injury to each other and the way we exploit your creation.

We have taken what is good and corrupted it, such that signs of goodness can be frustratingly elusive.

Your realm does not originate here, and yet you show us your loving concern for what you have made.

This world's kingdoms thrive on division, while yours exhibits peace and justice. And when we see your kingdom finally break through, we know what's possible and crave more.

Make us conduits of heaven so that Earth may reflect what you've intended from the beginning.
